Wegman Auction

Looking for some input on a date for next years auction.

We have been doing it on the mid July weekend in the past which has been a real scorcher :P. Quite a few people have not stayed for the auction because of the heat. I can't blame them, I'd rather be in an air conditioned motel myself at that time.

I am looking at the August 23/24 weekend this year hoping it will be a bit cooler. Please let me know your thoughts. ;D

                August sounds good. I'm going to put in a plug as well. If would be great everyone could let their sponsors know about the Wegman Auction now. This is generally the time they make desicions regarding donations to various organizations. You all know what a great charity the Wegman fund is, and how it has helped many friends of ours. Perhaps we can get some really cool stuff to auction.

My favorite is the stuff the Wegman gets from National and World renown racers, as well as the off the hook stuff you never thought you would need when you started this sport.

I'm sure Jack will have it marked on the canendar he's putting together , and you should mark it on yours too. This is one party you won't want to miss.

Cool...thanks for the early notice, although I know it's very tenitive. But, my sponser will like it anyway.  Love the Wegman weekend, too much fun to be legally.

Ok, so what is the "Wegman Auction"?

Wegman Benefit Fund is a fund set up by Gordy Lunde  (17 years ago?) to aid injured racers in paying their medical and other allowable costs when they crash in a race situation.

The fund is available to any racer nationally who is injured while running a sanctioned competitive event.

Every year, there is an auction held at Blackhawk Farms raceway to add to the fund. Everything is auctioned off, from racer memorabilia; parts and product; service & product certificates. There have been whole and partial bikes auctioned as well as goofy stuff like snacky cakes and cheezy poofs, that went for $75. Something for everyone.

There are door prizes and a raffle, and not to be left out, Nick Manske's world famous brats.

The ulitimate entertainment is the pit bike race, which is every racer's highlight. You have to be licensed to run the PBR, but it's worth every penny of the entry donation. Mayhem rules and wheelies are allowed.

So, everyone and anyone, this is an event to attend. Loads of fun to help fellow racers.  What could be better?

Start banging on doors at will. I'm still working on the AMA pro weekend at RA for an auction. Will let you know as soon as possible about that. But we will still have the Blackhawk event also. ;D
