In other related news, can I just say that Stumpy and I were VERY impressed with Bobby Fong again this weekend at RA.

He's just a good old fashioned fast kid.  Gotta love it!

Holy shit!!
how fast is Jason Farrell?

1 1:13.562
2 1:10.452
3 1:16.827
4 1:12.482
5 1:10.774
6 1:10.440

He did a stop and go on lap three, and still clocked a 1:16

The laptimes are now sortable by clicking on a column header in the grid.

There's lot of room for improvement, so let me know if you see stuff you would like to see.

For instance, would people want the ability to export their individual laptimes to a CSV file, etc.

Would anyone have use for a format that would show a table of all times for all riders in a lap by lap format?  This way you could check on each lap against the people you were running with.

Something like this:

TRACK:    Blackhawk      Race:   MWSS      Date:   5/13/2007
         Lap
   #      Name         ....1....     ....2....     ....3....     ....4....     ....5....
204A   Don Casey   1:18.61   1:17.74   1:17.83   1:17.48   1:17.07
111A   Tom Jones   1:16.75   1:16.22   1:15.90   1:15.25   1:15.52
202E   Wally Lund   1:11.24   1:11.17   1:10.88   1:10.73   1:10.83
  24E   Joe Smiley   1:14.51   1:14.32   1:13.97   1:13.65   1:13.82

Yeah Rick, I was kind of thinking of doing something like mylaps does where they list the riders position by lap and shows their position by lap.  I like the layout you propose here too.

Yep...the nice thing is Bobby has never been to Road America before.......and that was his first time riding in the rain....EVER!

Scotty did a great job as well....he went 1.5 seconds faster than he has ever gone at Road America and keeps improving every weekend.  I think a lot of people will be surprised by him by the end of the season because he is really committed to racing and listens and then goes and applies it.

I think people forget how hard it is to race at the AMA level.......look at how the local guys finished at Road America.

In Supersport alone there are 18 factory or factory supported riders.....when Tommy Hayden finishes tenth that tells you something.

FX has 12 factory or factory supported riders this year.

There are a lot of people out there that can go fast at there home track and get waxed running an AMA season.....Willow Springs is a potential case in point.  Some guys absolutely fly there and struggle elsewhere.

There is so much more to racing than having big cahones and twisting the throttle...I think people learn at the AMA level there are so many other factors that come into play into being sucessful....i.e. nutrition, training, bike preperation, mechanics and crew, breaking down a track and studying what bumps to avoid, etc.....

It's racing...if it were easy everybody would be doing it!  The same goes with being a team owner...its way easier just being a rider and racing......people have no idea what it takes to survive in this industry......thats why you see a lot of riders and team owners that last 2-2.5 years in the AMA or even at club racing.

It's still the coolest sport in world......and I'm still working on my 12 step program with this disease!

Kevin, I have to agree with your comments on Scotty.  Now, I'm not cheerleader for anyone, but I will say that I've been impressed with how well he has done playing with the big-boys.  It's obviously a good match of personalities all the way around.

I think one of the biggest eye openers for me as an owner was dealing with all of the different personalities.  Essentially, I am a glorified babysitter a lot of times.

Minimizing the drama in a race weekend is really hard to do, but has to be done to be sucessful.  You are bringing together so many different personalities....people who work full time together, people who help just for the weekend and everyone really has to get along.

People come from very different backgrounds in how they were raised....for example one person's view of being clean and picking up is different from anothers.  Its all of the little things like "I don't want to sleep in a hotel room with him because he snores or gets up too early etc...." that really brake a team down. It's not the big stuff.....its stuff like he ate my donut....that creates rift and turns into a disease that permeates everyone on the team and goes on to effect the riders.

Think of how hard it is trying to get a group of 10-12 people  to decide on where to go eat and amplify that ten fold for a race weekend all day long after working long hours.

You walk over to the Yoshimura truck and they experience the same stuff......it's just being able to deal with it and keep everyone focused on the big picture and ONLY WORRYING about their job that they are responsible for....not everyone else.  Once people focus on their assignment then you can be successful.

I'm really lucky this year because I have two riders that get along really well together. It's funny because they are almost like brothers and they really try and help each other out.....in return they both go faster in the races.  Too many riders don't want to help their teammate....I agree that race day is everyman for himself, but if riders would work together leading up to the race you are sharing double the information and it helps both of you to be successful.....a lot of riders don't get that.  Their first goal is to beat their teammate and refuse to share any information and totally miss the point.

Just a little glimpse of behind the scenes....the hard thing is you learn this on the job and nobody really prepares you for it so the school of hard knocks really comes into play and can be extremely costly to learn a lesson sometimes.
