I'd like some clarifications on this issue...

A rider was DQ'd this last weekend at VIR for not having the crankcase breather hose hooked up to the airbox. What's the deal with this? The only thing the rulebook states is that crankcase ventilation must be routed to the airbox or a catch can and this is under general machine requirements.

There is nothing in SS rules anywhere about exhaust modifications, especially disabling clean air devices like the pair valve.

So what's the deal? Do we have to run catalytic converters and such or can these unnecessary items be removed. With all the other things that can be modified on a SS bike, this seems like an AMA type selective disqualification.

Kevin, you out there?

I'd like to know too!

What about having a catch can, then routing it to the exhaust valve.

It sounds like an air box modification rule interpretation.  In SS Original equipment air box must remain as produced.  So disconnecting the crankcase breather hose would be an air box modification.  This is just my take on it.  I could be wrong.

Yeah, but I would think nearly every expert by now has disconnected the fresh air (pair) valve system. So what now? How to make it legal?
