Well, since we are all sharing our financial difficulties....

Between my medical bills for the multilple surgeries on my arm, my daughter getting braces, and our big trip to see the worlds largest butter sculpture this summer, I don't know if I'll make any races.

This thread is getting a little sad with all the people dropping out.  I just picked up an SV this weekend and will be racing MW schedule.  Hopefully there will be some good races at the MW/GP combined races!

You guys got me thinking.  With my new job being so crazy, and with the price of fuel I think I am just going to start racing R/C cars this year.  Motor builds are a lot cheaper and they only use a cup of U4 a weekend!  Have fun guys!

Sac-up is right!

Okay, I just picked up my SV this weekend.  Picked it up from a nice, warm state not until I was about 30 miles away from home in the frigid (-1 yesterday at 4pm) icecap here in Iowa it occured to me that I hadn't taken the time to empty the coolant system of its water-wetter based content.   :banghead:

So now I have a technical question - what signs of damage should I look for once I get it thawed and emptied????

if you need a bike for next year let me know I'll give you a good price on my sv if I end up not racing at all which very well could happen

Yeah, let me her it Jack.  Little AJs medical bills are over 158,000 and we just got new ones in the mail.  I had no idea this was coming.  Add to that my boss is down my throat for hiring to many people and throwing off the budget numbers.   He is the one who told me to staff the territory and approved the plan.  Its going to be a bad year.

Add to it the election crap, gas prices rising, my 401(k) looks like the Iraqi War budget (in the wrong direction).

I'll start the bidding at $500

If I can get it anywhere around there, I might just be able to race with the money I make from selling the bike I have

Wow!! this is all very depressing.  I thought I was in a tough spot being unemployed (ok underemployed) for over 4 months but that may change - big interview Wed. with Baxter Healthcare for a sr principal engineer.  Either way a couple of teams have asked me to endurance ride so worst case....

DO NOT START IT!!!  Thaw the bike out and drain the oil.  See if there's a bunch of water in there.  If there is, pull the Cylinder head covers and check to see if the freeze plugs popped out.  If they have, no big deal.  Clean them up and tap them back in.  I used a bit of Permatex gasket sealer to make sure they didn't leak.  This happened to me and there was no damage even after I started it up for 5 minutes.  If you want to buy new freeze plugs, check with Spears Enterprises.

Managed to get it thawed and drained the coolant - no sign of oil in it.  Now next step is to change the oil tonight.  Fingers crossed, we'll see....
