I recently bought a slightly wrecked very low mileage 2001 Ducati 900 metallic. I was going to fix it up for a street bike but I'm wondering now if it would make a decent LW bike. What do you think, Clayton? Also, is this model equivalent to the 900SS. Thanks

I think the M900 will work out fine. Jarel is racing one this season. It fits shorter riders better and has a shorter reach to the bars so for many vertically challenged racers it is actually the bike of choice over the SS. '01 is the last year for the good chassis (ie 888 type) but with EFI so a very good bike to start with imo. It would need fully adjustable forks and a good shock. I just so happen to have a like new set of fully adjustable Showa's from a 1000ss that would bolt right on to that M900 without any mods required. Good price too. Seems someone found a cool set of ex-BSB Ohlins SBK forks for his 1000SS for next season, hmmm.

David can give me a hard time as long as he makes sure to properly fasten his head skid and has his cup on...  :lmao:  because the mind is a terrible thin' and it must be stopped in our lifetime...before it kills someone.  :lmao:

I remember Brian Lacy raced a 900 Monster a couple years ago and did very well on it.  Not sure what he had done for mods, but I'm sure it was far from stock.  Like Clayton said, I'll be racing an M900 this year too, so I'd love to see another one out there!  I've got some basic motor mods in the works to get a few more ponies, and suspension/chassis updates to get the monster set up more like the 888 superbike, I'm hoping with those changes the Monster will be comparable in performance to an SS.  I did a couple track days on it this past year, but I had a bent fork so I was never able to push it.  If you want to compare notes on race setup, just give me a call at Ducati Omaha or shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the help there. Send me an email on what you're asking for the forks. I'm in Maryland so unless we meet at Daytona or Barber I doubt we'll ever meet. I'd be interested in what other mods you guys did.
