I believe that NASCAR has a very specific blend for their asphalt.  They aren't looking for absolute traction.  That can lead to more grip and really too much speed for them.  Remember, they've done a lot to slow down cars on the super speedways.  I think they are looking mostly for durability and consistency.  I'm betting that a full tilt 1000 is still gonna spin on the banking in sixth yet.  At least they used to...
