I'm not going to start ranting here but have something to say - weather or not you want to hear it.

We, as racers, know what can and may happen and assume the risks.

Well, yesterday we lost another rider.
I was there after the fact so I didn't see what happened nor will I speculate what did.

What I wish is for All racers is to Stop trying to Win the race on the First Lap!!!

In all my years of racing, I have seen some very stupid moves and most on the first lap.
Some "Johnny Racer" thinks he has something to prove, to himself and the world,
and makes a bad decision to gain a position only to cause a crash.

Now, if a rider falls on their own and then gets hit, well, that's another matter.

So, if you Think you can make it, DON"T try it. Save the pass for another SAFE opportunity.

PLEASE PLEASE be Careful and Mindful of others around you! Most of us have jobs and family to go back too....

Noidly, you're sentiment is 100% dead-on, and I completely agree with you regarding stupid, reckless maneuvers of any kind, especially very early in the race.

For what it's worth, though, this incident does not fall into this category - the case was indeed that he crashed, and was struck by another rider immediately thereafter.
I was watching the race from the T&S building - my own race was later, and I decided to run, though it was difficult... it was a very sad and heavy day, to say the least.

Anyway, I know this was posted a while back, but in the event that there was any uncertainty, I wanted to make sure that it is understood, that this was not the fault of the rider who hit him. It was a racing incident, pure and simple, and it was completely unavoidable.

Be safe out there!

That's true as I posted that in the 3rd to last line.

I was basicly saying "Don't do anything stupid that could get someone hurt."

Followed by (3rd to last line), translation> "If you fall on your own, Sorry it happened and hope your Ok but what happens next, well,,, shit happens..."

No, I gotcha man, and you covered all the bases... I'm just making sure that what didn't happen, is clear, as you said you wouldn't speculate.

i will never complain about those that post "RIDE SAFE.. " , and i totally agree, that too often we see racers that try and win it all on lap 1.

As someone wiser than i stated "There are stupid riders, and there are old riders, but there ain't many stupid old riders"

I think the Midwest took this thread to heart. The 27th and 28th was our season closer and nobody took a ride in the ambulance! It was by far the safest race weekend I have ever attended.

Very sorry to hear this. My worst accident was actually from running off the track because I was coming up on a lapper with a ton of closing speed and made the split second decision to stand it up instead of risk putting us both in the hospital. And the funny thing is, he probably never knew it.
