Quotedamn virus out on the public networks is clogging up all the local routers so everything is running slow.

reason I siliconed my dead was cuz

1--it was a racebike with no chance of going back

2--i've yet to crash on the damn thing and have the engine keep running

really!! the bike stops running.  I guess i thought it would keep running.  maybee i will glue mine.

They do keep running for 30 secs or sometimes more if you have a full fuel load. ANd three possible problems.

1 suck dirt into a compromised intake system

2. no oil at pick-up

3. catch the bike on fire with leaking fuel/grass/hay etc

My take on it is do you want to be safer while riding and avoid a possible crash because of it...or be safe after a crash?  Anything can happen, and to try to provide for every possible circumstance is impossible.  I would think that most people would be more prone to avoid the incident all together than to try to provide for the possibilities of a crash.

I realize that it's pretty much a matter of time before we all crash...that's the nature of the sport.  But to focus on the 'when I crash' seems like the wrong thinking to me...

Just my two cents.  ;)

of course it shuts down, do me a test favor sometime.

take your bike, come to a full stop and don't pull in the clutch--tell me what happens

Eric Kelcher

When bike is laying on its side rear tire is off the ground.

I totally agree with need to keep bike from shutting off in highside recovery scenario, but eliminating tip over switch is not really the answer using a system that doesn't shut down instantly is. The R6 system has a 4-5 sec delay and would be what I would use.

yes, if you lay your bike on its side, there is a chance the rear tire will be lifted off the ground, though definitely not a guarantee with the Y2k gixxers.

At the same time, I have found the bike will stall before it gets to that point

I think shutting off the fuel pump is more important than whether the bike continues to run or not. If the fuel system is compromised, the fuel pump can continue to run pumping fuel all over the place regardless of whether the bike is running or not.

QuoteAny idea where I can find the one on an '03 R6.

Mine caused me not to finish a race 'uz I couldn't get it to cycle back on. :-/

Until I got back to the pits >:( >:( >:(

Dave, on the 03 R6, it's the furthest back electrical component inside the battery tray on the left side. It's kinda under a subframe crossmember. It will say "UP" on it and has 2 screws holding it in.

My .02 is I don't think it's much of an issue for most bikes, but now I'm curious to open it up just to see it...  8)

You can put a capacitor in the tip over system to delay the circuit from cutting the engine.  I can provide details if anyone is interested.
