No,  I think you should be a white plate next year.

QuoteP.S.   Mr. David Lachavich (Spelling?) was an amateur back in 99' in WERA as far as that goes, he also raced against us as an amateur in 2000 at Gateway and did pretty good that weekend also. He is exactly why you shouldn't want to be an amateur again. Where would have YOU finished had the rules been applied to David? Do you want to be the guy that hampers some other new racers start into racing?
Bamm, my understanding is he was running WERA expert at the same time he was dominating the CCS amateur ranks.
I could've cared less what he did, cause I knew there were quite a few multi year amateurs in the 600ss class in 2001, and if Dave was gone everyone would bump up one spot only.
It was also amateur class, so if they would have bumped all of those guys to expert, being up front wouldn't really mean that much either.
It was my first year riding, and I was just getting my feet wet by putting around @ 3 local races, so it  didn't affect me in the least.  But I do understand your point.
Dave's a real good rider, and I don't think it's that big of a deal...he wasn't the first and won't be the last.
Sh*t, I had a CCS official calling me a cherry picker my 4th time on the track, claiming I was an Expert 'somewhere' and was b!tching at me the whole weekend, finally threatening to contact other orgs to see "where I came from"  ::) :P

I was really using David's lap-times, as an example of what a good-rider can do w/ a stock suspension'd bike.  Yes, suspension will make you go faster, but you can still get on the box w/out it, in the amateur ranks.  A Penske isn't going to take you from mid-pack amateur to the front, that's all I was saying.

Bamm, go easy on my 72yr old friend KC124, you might break his hip ;D

Kev, I'm just clowning ya ;)

Kevin,

The "Expert" next to your name looks good! ;D ;D ;D

I'm stepping in real late, so I don't know exactly what is going on here.........BUT, going expert should be a matter of what your goals are for the season!  Be realistic and go with your heart, it will guide you to the winner's circle where you will taste   sweet victory with cold milk.  Sorry, I was reading a movie poster!!!!!  Yes, Goals.
I hated getting blown away all the time when I went expert in my second year after a short first year.  I could of got lapped if the GTO races were 10 minutes longer and I didn't learn the fast line with the other newbie experts in the back.  Should have done one more year am to build confidence, Grasshopper with huge balls.

OK, I've had enough, make the d_mn decision one way or another and kill this thing before it takes on a life of it's own. Jeez man, do what you want and the hell with all the advice. Stand up and show you have a spine to race with! Jelly fish don't sit well on sport bikes ya know ......

Gixxer124

Wow! That hurt! :'(  I've requested to stay amateur, now its out of my hands. So p!ss off! :P

the_weggie_man

Don't take it as a personal affront. Happy to see you made a decision. Now we can move on and don't have to worry about this being a national debate on tonites news.

I never was pissed off but now that you said I should be ........ hmmmmm.

Right on!!!!!!!
Now to think of a post that could break the record..............

Or.... I'll tell everybody I'm staying amatuer, and show up at the first race with white plates on. Right Doofy?

UHH, kinda late (busy vacuming) , but thats rite, mr.124

How many amatuer riders the first weekend that win races will accually be "Beginners"?? but thats it. Trust me, go white,  its time to play with the big dogs.

IS it fair to the real new ones from the year prior? i read the cherry pickin statements, and the rider ego thing. who doesnt want a fair shop at being CHAMP ??

But racing will still be more fun than anything "normal" people do.

WE are the "normal" people !!!

Thank God Dave straightened us out before we had nervious breakdowns.  We actually got faster once we lightened up!      K3

K3, you and Dave V.   "lightened up" AFTER  Daytona !!!
the only weekend i missed was the last gateway, (and that one, i hear, was uhhh intense??) the rest of the year was nothing less that Determination for you!  ::)

Gixxer124

Sorry if I offended anyone. I am just fooling around, as were you....

You were just playing?  Weren't  you?  ???

GSXR RACER MIKE

I went expert in 1998 after 2 seasons being an amatuer and thought that I was going to get my butt kicked. I pre-entered early enough to be in the front of the grids for my 1st expert event (Heartland Park) and was pleasantly suprised when I was finishing between 5th and 10th.
I think that running with the experts helped me to see what I wasn't doing correctly and quickly lowered my lap times by running with the fast guys.
Now after 2 1/2 years off I ran a few events at the end of the 2002 season. Started in the back, stayed in the back. Though I could have, I didn't want to go back to amatuer because the expert class is where it's at! You may not win, but you'll definately get better in the expert class.
If you can win races as an amatuer, it's time to play with the experts!
