For God's sake Kevin.  This is a no brainer.  Put on the white plate.  We can duke it out in expert F40.
I could make excuses too, and don't think I haven't been tempted.  To follow your logic, I should also stay amateur.  I was running a twelve year old bike (I'd KILL to have your GSXR) on other people's take offs.   Therefore I'm too poor to go expert.  I only won three races of the 65 or so that I ran, so I wasn't dominant.  My six championships were simply a matter of showing up to every race and never finishing lower than fifth.  I was persistant and consistant.
Sure, I did beat every other player in the lightweight class at some point, but Mike, Edgar, Jessie, and Mark all won more times than I did.  I was only consistant.  Ed Key could still lap me in a 30 minute race if I backed off toward the finish.  Screw the new guys.  I need ten or twelve more championships, and a dozen or two more wins.  New CCS rule.  I don't move up until I say so.
This was my first full season.  I did well.  It was really hard work.  I had never won a trophy before this year, but I stuck with it.  Jessie is 15 years old, but has been racing for 10 or more years.  Amateur?  Not!  Mark and Edgar were fast and winning in CRA before I got a license.  Cherry Pickers?  Maybe.  Remove those three, and I'd have been first or second in every race this year.  I deserve to be dominant!  Throw all the other bums out and let me be the yellow plate king!!!!!!!!
The white plates are already painted on my bike.  I'm still broke, and still scared $#itless about having to race with Tez, Gorden, ect. ect. ect.  Still, I'm going expret.  I had a full season as an amateur, and that's all a rider deserves.  You had yours too.  I really liked being a bigshot, earning wood, talking trash.  It was a dream come true.  I sure don't want to go race with experts and get whupped on.  Hero to zero?  It will probably happen.  Still, I know that it's time.  Grab your nads and step up.  it's the right thing to do.

The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Weeden bought it off me that weekend.  I didn't even get to race it!  I'm fixing up our Team Challenge 2000 ZX6R for this season.  If I haven't shamed you into running white plates, then I think you should write back to CCS and tell them to make me an amateur again too.  Otherwise, you'll win every F40 race that you enter!  Oh well.  At least I'll know where to go if I want a slice of cherry pie on Saturday night! ::)

This whole topic is probably a waist of time anyway. I'm in the Air Force Reserves and if you've listened to the news, know that there's a good chance I'll be over in the desert by the start of the season.  :( What would be a good tire choice for sand?

Paddles. Check with the boys that run the dunes in CA or MI. ;D ;D ;D

I wonder if they would notice if I packed my XR100 pitbike in with all our gear? ;D C5s have lots of room!

I can watch the GSXR for you while you're gone! ;D

Me on a GSXR.  Would that be anything like a smart bomb?  Probably not smart enough...

Ok Kids,

I am genuinely stumped..

Near as I can figure this is club racing and the primary goal here is to have a good time and kick your buddies collective a$$es.

In the AFM they make it simple.. The first year, you start out an Amateur and stay that way until you complete six race weekends.  After six race weekends you can petition to go white immediately or finish out the year as an novice. Next year, you are white plate, no debate.

The truth is, all of us when we first started riding thought that we had a chance to win.  Obviously none of us believed that we would light the world on fire but racer ego demands that all things being equal...I'm faster.. And we all promptly got our a$$es kicked by novices/amateurs that were anything but.

I'm new to the region and will be an amateur. Yet I raced for years in NorCal and used to be able to put my 250 on an AMA grid.. Hardly seems fair to the kid that just strapped number plates onto his streetbike, spent three weeks learning how to safety wire and has a fresh new set of takeoffs, all set for his first race weekend.

Guys and Gals, leave the yellow plates for amateurs, its a club race..  yellow plates really should be the last bastion of fun.  White plates... lets bang on each other all we want.  And if you are still fast go play on a local AMA round.

Steven, your post doesn't make much sense. You qualify for AMA grids but you are going to a new region so you will be an amateur. You must have taken some time off for this to be allowed but you even said amateur status should be reserved for the newbies.
