Oh, so he was telling you about this guy who got DQ'd even though the Tech Director couldn't show him in the rule book where it said he couldn't modify a stock air filter? ;D

From the rule book: 6.1.2 D.
Original equipment airbox must remain as produced. Air filters must be used but may be Aftermarket units. Aftermarket air filters are are restricted to units available via normal commercial channels and designed for that specific model machine. Aftermarket air filters units that replace part of the OEM. airbox are required to maintain the original size and number of air inlet openings as the stock unit.

I do not have an aftermarket air filter and it doesn't say stock air filters cannot be modified. ;)
