I bought Alexa's old FZR400.

Messing around with it, found I couldn't get the airbox seated.

Any tips on getting this thing on correctly? I know the FZRs can be a real hassle to get/keep on.

Does this mean you are getting back on the track?

Nate, they are really, really hard.  I think the location in relation to heat causes problems over time.

Remember how we use contact cleaner or brake clean on the rear wheel cush drive?  Might be worth a try.  I remember putting on each "velocity stack" on before and then putting the air box on.

And they get more air if you leave off the ring that is around the fuel cap.

Nate, you have mail.

Dave's tricks might work. The air box is notorious for giving fits while being attached.

The real question is, how long are you going to ride it in "Barbie bike" configuration? ;) ;D

Do or do not, there is no "try".

After a while (10-years) the boots dry up and will not flex enough to fit around carbs.
You will need to by new manifolds.
