Take a look at this series.

If you notice, as the rider is walking through the gravel, 2 guys in orange are still talking to the guy in the golf cart. The other corner worker seems to be in not too much of a hurry.

Anyone see this crash? Was the reaction (or lack thereof) from the workers really as it seems to be in these pics?

It takes till pic 68725 for the white shirt worker to get moving across the track, when no other bikes appear to come by. Look at 68721. The guys in orange look real attentive.

I'm not saying that this was horribly wrong, or that the workers TOTALLY screwed up or anything. I Can't say that. I don't know. I'm only seeing what's here in these pics, so I'm asking if this was as bad as it looks.

No Flames, please. I'm SOO thankful for corner workers. Just asking about this scenario.

Here's my interpretation of the pictures...

First off, I'd bet the first 15 photos, through number 68719, all happen within 5 seconds or so.  That's not a lot of time for people to react.

We see later that the two guys in orange are wearing earmuffs/headsets.  They may not have even heard the accident behind them.  From their location it looks like they're not cornerworkers responsible for watching the action, but rather a cleanup crew.

The guy in white appears within probably about 20 seconds.  We can't see how far he had to move to get into the pictures.  I wouldn't say he isn't in a hurry, he's clearly looking up the track to make sure he can cross safely.  In the second photo he appears in the position of his feet make it look like he's running.

All in all it doesn't look too bad to me.  I just can't figure out how the rider was going in that direction with the two orange clad guys standing in what appears to be an impact zone on the outside of the corner and the guy in white looking the opposite way down the track as he runs across.

Uhoh! ;D

This is Road America, corner 5. The camera shoots 5 frames/second. You see the corner worker in white after 4 seconds.

Yes, I was surprised the RA crew in orange didn't react sooner, but they are the clean-up crew and did have radio headsets on. They simply didn't hear the crash. They are located behind a wall out of the impact zone.

The corner worker was attentive and quick to respond. The bikes were flying down the hill into turn 5 and the corner worker was making sure it was clear as he was crossing the run off area for T5. This is a very dangerous area.

The rider got to his feet right away and continued to walk through the sand trap and to safety.

Thanx for both of your replies. The truth makes a lot more sense than my hypothesis.

Thanx!
